Klangmanufaktur is an independent restoration workshop for Steinway grand pianos with 120 years of Steinway operating experience. The founding team around managing director and owner Oliver Greinus, former head of the design department at Steinway & Sons, Jan Kittel, formerly responsible at Steinway for the sound support of grand pianos during recordings and concerts, Kay Bürger, former head of the repair and restoration workshop at Steinway and Pierre Hellermann, formerly active in artist support at Steinway, formed the basis in 2015 for today's activities. Since its foundation, the team has grown to 20 employees, who completely overhaul 30 Steinway & Sons grand pianos per year.
Since the beginning of 2023, Piano Sigrist has been the official representative and service provider for Klangmanufaktur grand pianos in Switzerland. In addition to the purchase of refurbished Klangmanufaktur Steinway & Sons grand pianos, Piano Sigrist also offers the Klangmanufaktur rental model for Swiss customers. This model is aimed at musicians and concert venues who value high instrument quality and for whom the purchase of a Steinway is currently out of the question. Buying a grand piano from Klangmanufaktur always starts with getting to know and playing the Steinways in our showroom in Hinwil.
You can also purchase Klangmanufaktur Steinway grand pianos as a cultural investment. We rent the instrument to artists and concert venues on a long-term basis for 4% rent per year, which we pay out to you in full. This offer is designed for investors, heirs to grand pianos and as a mission investment for foundation capital. Piano Sigrist acts as an intermediary between the investor, the artist and Klangmanufaktur. We will be happy to send you the Swiss prices on request. Klangmanufaktur grand pianos cannot be bought "off the peg", but we will search for a suitable grand piano for you. The Klangmanufaktur will then refurbish the instrument for you so that you end up with a Steinway that is as good as new and customised to your specifications. You can follow the process at any time by visiting the Klangmanufaktur in Hamburg. You only make the final purchase decision when the instrument is finished.
