The most beautiful
craft in the world
In 1997 Beni and Judith Sigrist founded the sole proprietorship "Piano Service Beni Sigrist" in Zollikerberg. After working for many years at the Jecklin music store, Beni already had a sizeable customer base and what started small became a solid piano building business. Beni looked after his customers in all piano matters and related needs and already at that time cultivated cooperation with other piano shops.
What Beni Sigrist had started was continued and expanded together with his son Josias Sigrist and his daughter-in-law Laura Sigrist. In 2017 and 2018, the two joined the company and helped to turn the one-man business into a small music house. New premises were rented in Hinwil and expanded for the purposes of the business. A modern and work-friendly workshop and two attractive showrooms were created.
Two generations with verve and sensitivity
The response of the customers was great and consistently positive, which is why new employees were soon sought. Within 3 years, a training and further education centre for apprentices and trained piano makers was created.
The large workshop in Hinwil is intended to be a space for learning, where knowledge can be exchanged and ideas can be born.
On 01.01.2021, the sole proprietorship was then taken over by Piano Sigrist GmbH and has since been continued under the management of the young generation. Laura and Josias Sigrist are particularly concerned to continue the excellent customer service as it was exemplified by Beni and Judith Sigrist.

I learned the profession of piano maker at the Jecklin music store in Zurich. During my apprenticeship, I also took further training at the Burger & Jacobi piano factory in Biel. After successful completion, I attended several courses at Steinway & Sons in Hamburg. In the following years I worked as a concert tuner in the Tonhalle, in the opera house and in the field service at the music store Jecklin. During this time I was able to gain a lot of experience as a concert technician as well as a trouble-shooter.
After commercial and management school, I switched to sales at Musikhaus Jecklin.
Since 1997 I have been successfully self-employed and today I work in concert halls and for various renowned pianists. For 25 years I led the tuning courses for apprentices in piano making as an instructor. Today I am still heavily involved in the training of apprentices in musical instrument making. I held a leading position at the Swiss Association of Piano Makers and Tuners SVKS until 2020.
Thus, I distinguish myself through my more than 37 years of professional experience and the will to get the best out of every instrument.

I learned the profession of piano maker over 10 years ago in Italian-speaking Switzerland. After completing my 4-year apprenticeship (2010), I completed my compulsory military service with the rescue forces and then worked for a year in military disaster relief.
However, I felt the desire to return to my learned profession and so I accepted a position in Montreal, Canada with the Steinway&Sons representative there. My activities there included looking after the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and the Studio Piccolo.
After two years (2015), I returned to Switzerland to join the Jecklin/Musik Hug company after a temporary employment with my father and an internship at Faust&Harrison Pianos in New York.
There I was able to develop and refine my skills in the workshop, but also remained active in customer service and concert service.
In 2017, I decided to join my parents in the business and was able to grow and expand the company as the General Manager.
I place particular emphasis on quality, accuracy and honesty in my work. My strengths include experience at the highest concert level, successful collaboration with renowned pianists (including Hélène Grimaud, Jan Lisiecki and Yuja Wang) and my experience in the restoration of grand and upright pianos.
I look forward to advising and assisting you at your home, at concerts, on the phone or in our workshop.

My path led me via a small roundabout way to piano building – and thus to Piano Sigrist.
In my home country of Austria, I first learned the profession of secondary school teacher, but then I missed the craftsmanship. So I decided to do a 4-year apprenticeship as a piano builder, which I started at dietschi pianos in Zurich and completed in 2019 in the family business.
In the coming years, I was responsible for the training of our apprentices, expanded the Piano Sigrist workshop and managed it until autumn 2021. Since November 2021, I have been working for the company on a reduced basis and am responsible for our smallest family member at home.
Parallel to my work at Piano Sigrist, I teach at the technical school for future musical instrument makers at BBZ Arenenberg.
I like to work precisely and neatly and I strive to complement the team with my creative ideas.

After graduating from high school, I began studying plastics technology in my hometown of Würzburg, but this soon turned out to be a bad decision. As I had already been able to gain my first insights into the work of a local piano maker during a short internship, I began my training as a piano maker in 2006 at the piano manufacturer Steingraeber & Söhne in Bayreuth.
I stayed there for 10 years and during this time I was not only able to gain some experience in new construction, but also passed the master craftsman’s examination at the renowned Oscar Walcker School in Ludwigsburg.
In 2016, for various reasons, I first moved to Montreux on Lake Geneva and finally to Hinwil in the Zurich Oberland.
Here I have been supporting the Piano Sigrist team since July 2019, with the focus of my work being the support of our numerous customers in the field. I spend the remaining time in the repair workshop, where I benefit a lot from the experience of my colleagues and can thus expand my knowledge in the repair field.

I started playing the piano as a child. Very quickly I realised that I wanted to learn a profession that had something to do with music. Since I also like to do handicrafts, the profession of piano maker is just right for me.
So I started my 4-year apprenticeship at Piano Sigrist in August 2019 and completed it in 2023. Now I continue to work in the company and am mainly active in the workshop.

After a commercial apprenticeship and a long period of language studies in England, I moved to the Lake Zurich region.
Over the past 25 years, I have gained extensive experience in project management, human resources and assistance and have become acquainted with various industries. My professional journey has taken me from tourism (ocean and river shipping) via the pharmaceutical sector (intraocular medicine) to industry (automotive supply industry).
I have furthered my education in the English language (Business English Certificate) as well as training as a dog trainer. In addition, I am always interested in my personal development and continuously attend relevant courses, seminars and further training.
With my new and for me very meaningful job at Piano Sigrist, the circle is closed and I am very much looking forward to the diverse tasks – it feels like coming home.

I completed my apprenticeship as an EFZ piano maker at dietschi pianos in 2016, where I also met Laura Sigrist.
After my subsequent service in the military as a non-commissioned officer, I travelled the world a bit.
During my search for the profession of my dreams, I found my way back to piano making and thus to Piano Sigrist. Here I support the team with my skills in surface and woodworking in the workshop and am responsible for training the apprentices in the first years of their apprenticeship.

After my commercial apprenticeship, I worked almost exclusively as an export/import clerk. My career paths have taken me from the cosmetics to the packaging industry.
I am the proud mother of three sons who have kept me on my toes for 27 years.
Since autumn 2021, I have been supporting the Sigrist team with my skills in day-to-day office work and am very happy to be a part of the team.

Like many of us, I came to our profession through music. I’ve played the piano since childhood, and later I added the guitar. After school in Munich, I studied musicology and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.
After graduating, I wanted to work more with my hands and started my apprenticeship at the Steingraeber piano manufactory in Bayreuth. In the five years there, I was involved in the construction of new pianos and grand pianos and their tonal elaboration. I have now been with Piano Sigrist since 2022 and enjoy working on our instruments in the workshop and in the field.

Ever since I can remember, I have had something to do with pianos and other instruments, as my father is a piano teacher and had his own music school for a long time.
After high school I attended the MNG Rämibühl and after graduation I did my military service.
After earning my lieutenant’s degree, I wanted to go to university, but realised that I wanted to pursue a craft profession. I then came across the profession of piano maker and Piano Sigrist by chance.
Since January I have already been working in the company as a trainee and have already learned and seen a lot.
