Hammerheads from the House Piano Sigrist
Our Own Piano Hammer Heads: Quality, Sound, and Sustainability Perfected
After more than two years of intensive development, the time has finally come: We are now officially installing our very own hammer heads!
Why Develop Our Own Hammer Heads?
For nearly 20 years, Josias struggled with the challenges presented by the hammer heads available on the market. Variations in sound quality, handling, and durability were a constant source of frustration.
In 2018, with the expansion of our workshop and the significantly increased number of hammer sets we had to install, these challenges became even more pronounced. That’s why we, as a team, made the decision: We’ll develop our own hammer heads to deliver the best possible sound quality to our customers.
Two Years of Development for the Perfect Solution
After an intensive phase of development and testing, we’re proud to say: We’ve found a solution that meets the highest standards. With our custom hammer heads, we can:
- Bring out the full potential of an instrument’s sound.
- Provide a product that is both durable and sustainable.
We’re so convinced of the quality of our hammer heads that we even use them in certain new instruments produced by our manufacturers.
Premium Materials for Superior Sound
The materials we use have been selected with the utmost care:
- Felt: Our felt is specifically produced to our exact specifications and delivered directly from the manufacturer. This ensures the highest quality and optimal responsiveness to our voicing techniques.
- Hammer Core:
- Grand Pianos: The hammer core is made of walnut from the bass to the first treble section. For the second treble section (approximately the last 20 keys), we use bamboo. This combination reduces the need for hardening measures on the felt.
- Upright Pianos: For upright pianos, we use maple hammer cores throughout.
Perfect Customization for Your Instrument
Each set of our hammer heads is individually tailored to the specific instrument. This includes:
- Adjustments to width, length, shape, weight, and sound.
- Precision drilling, sawing, gluing, and shaping – all done in our workshop using custom-designed tools.
To ensure optimal customization, we offer:
- Two hammer head sizes for upright pianos.
- Three different sizes for grand pianos.
Distinct Features of Our Hammer Heads
You can recognize our hammer heads at first sight – or rather, at first sound:
- Sound: A dynamic, balanced tone that brings out the full potential of your instrument.
- Design: The distinctive burgundy underfelt and our subtle Piano Sigrist logo make our hammer heads unmistakable.
Conclusion
With our self-developed hammer heads, we set new standards in quality, durability, and sound. Every detail has been meticulously designed to offer you and your instrument the very best.
Experience the difference – for a sound that inspires.
